5 reasons you feel tired even after completing your sleep cycle

Have you ever felt envious of those who are getting a full eight hours of sleep a night, because it is often a struggle for most of you where you may feel lethargic the next morning.

Have you ever felt envious of those who are getting a full eight hours of sleep a night, because it is often a struggle for most of you where you may feel lethargic the next morning.

What’s worse is that even after getting a good night’s deep sleep without any disturbances, your body fails to repair itself, and you feel tired throughout the following day.

There are several reasons to explain the feeling of fatigue that sustains even after getting the required number of hours, including that you are lacking quality sleep at night, rather than in quantity. It is also possible that you are not getting enough deep regenerative sleep the body requires to fully recover, and which is extremely important for your recovery, brain development, and detoxification.

If you have been feeling the same for quite some time now, read this article to know why you are waking up tired every morning. So, what’s your brain and body up to? Let’s have a look.

Following a Sedentary Lifestyle

The 9-5 job routine has tremendously increased the number of sitting hours among people, and not doing anything for long hours can actually make you more tired.

Not doing enough physical activity can cause you to feel sluggish and you may also experience mood swings. Also, if you are physically unfit, especially if you are suffering from thyroid and diabetes, then you may be more prone to after-sleep fatigue. In that case you must consult your doctor.

Exercising Late in the Day

The condition of feeling tired all the time even after getting adequate sleep may be caused by a hormonal imbalance leading to excess secretion of cortisol and adrenaline. This may occur if you are engaging in intense physical activity before sleeping or late in the day, as it increases your heart rate, lifts your adrenaline levels, and shoots your core body temperature.

This in turn can affect your sleep quality significantly, because then your body may not be able  relax sufficiently or get enough restorative sleep. Thus, you can do less intense activities like yoga. Also make sure that

Dehydration

Dehydration is one of the most widespread reasons to make you feel fatigued even after completing your sleep cycles. Not being hydrated enough may significantly dip your blood pressure, thus, slowing down the transportation of oxygen to your brain, which results in tiredness the next morning.

Therefore, make sure to check your adequate water intake in a day. In addition, to ensure the quality and minimize the risks of health issues related to drinking water, it is better to purchase a faucet water filter. A shower water filter is also recommended, as showering is just another form of water intake.

Consuming Alcohol/ Caffeinated Drink before Sleeping

There is a widespread misconception about alcohols that bingeing on the drink at night makes getting a deeper sleep easier, however, the truth is quite the opposite.

Alcohol actually severely hampers the quality sleep you get. While it may induce a faster sleep, the chemicals in the alcohol actually restrict your body from delving into deep regenerative sleep, which prevents your body from restoring and repairing itself. Alcohol can also leave your body dehydrated.

Not just alcohol, but even caffeinated drinks such as coffee, tea and even carbonated, sugary drinks such as cola can increase your brain activity, thus, keeping your brain alert and active for nearly up to six hours. This resists your brain from going into the deep sleep mode. As such, drinking caffeinated drinks is ill-advised if.

Therefore, it’s suggested to reduce their intake past midday as much as you can if you’re struggling to get over the feeling of sluggishness after a full night’s sleep.

You have Mineral Deficiency

Minerals are vital to maintain the balance of your body. Out of the important minerals required by the body, having insufficient levels of magnesium and iron in your blood can leave you feeling fatigued and lethargic no matter how long you sleep at night.

So it is recommended to include more green leafy vegetables and nuts to ensure a good night’s sleep and an energetic next day.
